Tottenham to follow Leicester’s lead with non-league star

Jamie Vardy’s ascent to becoming a Premier League star and an England international is rumoured to soon become the subject of a Hollywood movie.
The 28-year-old was playing non-league football as recently as 2012 and is now one of the most sought after strikers in the world.
His 15 goals in 21 games across all competitions this season – that ratio was even better before four successive blanks recently – prove that it is possible to make the step up to the top-flight from lower down and other clubs are looking to cash in on this as well.
Tottenham Hotspur are set to sign Ebbsfleet Town’s 17-year-old forward Shilow Tracey, with the youngster passing a medical this week.
Tracey spent October on trial with Spurs and joined up with their under-18’s squad during their tour of Florida last month.
The current Ebbsfleet man scored twice as the young Tottenham side won two of their matches when over in America.
That was enough to convince Mauricio Pochettino that it was worth investing in the teenage striker and Tracey looks set to mirror Vardy’s ascent into the Premier League, albeit at a quicker pace.
It is believed that Pochettino will utilise the youngster as a backup to Harry Kane rather than as a prospect for the future.
The Argentine’s key priority for this transfer window is thought to be providing cover for Kane and the fact that he views Tracey as the solution to this shows just how highly thought of the player is at White Hart Lane.
Heading to the Lilywhites at this time will prove to be a wise move for the 17-year-old, with the Londoners showcasing this season that they allow young players to develop.
Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Nabil Bentaleb are all 21 or under and have become important parts of the first team at White Hart Lane, with Tracey set to follow in their footsteps.
