Chelsea and Arsenal are doomed, according to poll

Manchester City are likely to be the Premier League’s sole representatives in the Champions League in the quarter-final stage.

That is according to the latest poll from Ladbrokes, which showed that most people believe only one of the three teams currently still in the competition will make it through to the next phase.

With Arsenal 2-0 down and facing a daunting trip to the Nou Camp and Chelsea trailing PSG after their first leg it is clear that the 50 per cent who voted for one team feel City will be left flying the flag.

However, support for the Sky Blues’ cause was not universal with the second most popular answer being zero teams.

With 26 per cent of the votes saying all three will be knocked out it is clear some fans expect Manuel Pellegrini’s side to struggle against Dynamo Kiev.

Following closely behind with 21 per cent was two teams, indicating that a healthy number of optimists expect to see Chelsea come good against Zlatan and co. and join the Citizens but let’s face it Gunners – you’re already out.

And that just left three per cent backing a clean sweep, showing that no matter what evidence there is to the contrary some delusional souls are still backing all three of the premier League sides to be in the hat for the last eight draw!

The betting backs up this sentiment with City the favourites among the English sides to win the tournament at 14/1, while Chelsea are priced up at 25/1 and Arsenal’s plight is highlighted by odds of 100/1.
