Dundee United odds grow as Premiership revival continues

They’ve left it late, but Dundee United have really got into the groove of late, and the Ladbrokes Premiership’s bottom side aren’t going anywhere without giving it their all.
The Terrors romped to a 3-0 win away at Ross County on Saturday afternoon, a week after downing Europe-chasing Hearts 2-1 at Tannadice.
Following the 3-0 loss at home to Motherwell two weeks ago, United were a daunting 1/25 to finish last and play Championship football next term and the club appeared to have hit rock bottom.
Six points from two games, however, has put the Tangerines within sight of Kilmarnock, but despite having a game in hand there’s still an eight-point gap to overhaul.
Still, if the odds are anything to go by things look much more hopeful for Mixu Paatelainen’s side, who are now 1/6 to finish bottom, with Killie’s price falling from 12s to 4s.
David MacDonald of Ladbrokes said: “United’s recent results have created a bit of movement on the betting. Killie’s odds have been cut a bit, perhaps punters aren’t confident in their new manager Lee Clark.
“It’s very much a two-horse race between United and Kilmarnock.”
Those prices could well shift again this week with both sides in midweek action.
Kilmarnock host Ross County on Tuesday night, before United welcome Aberdeen on Wednesday, looking to inflict another bad result for Derek McInnes’ stuttering Dons.
United were a similar price to beat Ross County however, and were 21/10 outsiders when beating Hearts, so it’s clear being the underdog doesn’t faze the club as they launch this bid for the great escape.
