Leicester City star building a bandwagon fit for the Euros

The month of February was only two days old, but Jurgen Klopp had seen enough. Jamie Vardy’s stunning, volleyed opener against Liverpool was Goal of the Month as far as he was concerned.
However premature the German’s assertion was, it had an air of truth to it. In a season where the Foxes star set a new consecutive-scoring record in the Premier League, spearheaded the most unlikely of title challenges and sprung to the top of the division’s scoring charts, claiming the Goal of the Month gong in its first two days feels entirely in keeping with Vardy’s unstoppable campaign.
In the end, the 29-year-old grabbed both goals as Leicester downed the Reds 2-0. It took his Premier League tally to 18 for the season and maintained Leicester City’s three-point lead at the top of the division.
After all his exploits, it’s fair to assume that the former non-league striker will be included in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for Euro 2016. But it’s time for Vardy and the rest of the nation to dream bigger.
Along with Harry Kane, the Leicester line leader is easily the best English striker in operation and should start the tournament in partnership with the Tottenham Hotspur star.
Given the fairytale storyline that he’s built thus far, it’s not completely implausible to see Vardy taking the international scene by storm and winning Golden Boot honours at the Euros.
At the moment, Ladbrokes offer 40/1 that the Sheffield native claims that title. That price shouldn’t be too difficult to outperform, considering he has made a mockery of the 80/1 Ladbrokes gave him at the start of the current domestic campaign to top the scoring charts..
Clearly, when it comes to Vardy, anything is possible, so it’s time to accept him as the poster boy for England’s Euros assault and back his lofty price to fire in more goals than anyone else.
He’s already changed the country’s perception of his talent within 24 games, who’s to say he won’t do the same this summer?
