Manchester United urged to cash in on Wayne Rooney

Manchester United should take the money and run as far as Wayne Rooney’s rumoured move to China is concerned.

That is according to the latest Ladbrokes poll, which showed that 81 per cent of the bookmakers’ Twitter followers feel the Red Devils should take the reported £27m on offer.

The poll follows the news that a Chinese Super League side is putting together a £100m package in order to entice England’s record goalscorer to the Far East.

Rooney is likely to want to surpass Sir Bobby Charlton’s Manchester United record before setting off into the sun but after seeing just 19 per cent of the voters urging United to keep hold of their talisman the Red Devils captain might just agree to join the growing number of stars heading east before the February 22 transfer deadline passes.

Rooney has been ruled out for the next six weeks and is unlikely to play a major part in United’s Premier League and Europa League run-in so the chance to earn £500,000 per week as soon as possible might just appeal to the 30-year-old.

However, with the European Championships taking place in June Rooney might have to wait until later this year to further boost his bank balance.

One thing is for sure, though and that’s that if and when he decides to go he will do so with United fans’ blessing.
