Punter backs Hibernian to win historic treble

For so long Celtic and Rangers have dominated Scottish football but one fan from Edinburgh is backing Hibs to be covered in glory at the end of the current season.

After seeing their side set up a League Cup final date with Ross County one fan has backed his beloved Hibees to complete a historic Championship, Scottish FA Cup and League Cup treble at special odds of 150/1.

Hibs currently trail Ladbrokes Championship leaders Rangers by eight points but with a game in hand could soon cut the gap to just five points, meaning any slip up by the Ibrox outfit would make the March 7 meeting between the pair a potential title decider.

Hibs remain in the Scottish Cup but face a tough fifth round replay against Edinburgh rivals Hearts, where Hibees fans will hope home advantage will see them through to the quarter-finals where Inverness lay in wait.

And as mentioned above the Easter Road outfit have already secured a place in the League Cup final on March 13 where just Ross County stand between Alan Stubbs’ men and the trophy they last claimed in 2004.

Rangers remain the 1/8 favourites to win the Ladbrokes Championship outright, while Celtic are the 4/7 jolly for the FA Cup, showing that Stubbs’ side still have a lot of work to do before this optimistic punter can count their winnings.

The odds are slightly more favourable for Hibs in the League Cup, but only just, with Ladbrokes unable to separate the sides with both teams priced at 10/11 to lift the season’s first piece of silverware.

At 150/1 the Hibs fans will have a summer to remember for many reasons if this bet comes good but as the old saying goes ‘there’s plenty of football to be played yet’.
