Have Hibernian landed Chelsea star as May consolation?

Published:

Hibernian look set to complete a season-long loan deal for Chelsea forward Islam Feruz as long-time target Stevie May looks to have evaded the clutches of the Edinburgh club.

Stubbs has gone on record as saying that he’ll only move to beef up his strikeforce if the right player becomes available with the Daily Mail reporting that Feruz is now the focus of his attention.

Hibs had been linked with a move for Sheffield Wednesday striker Stevie May but the 22-year-old is believed to be completing a switch to fellow Championship side Preston.

Local media in Sheffield have broken the deal on Twitter while newspapers north of the border have been busy speculating on a move for Feruz.

The highly-rated Scotland under-21 international moved to London from Celtic in 2011 but finds himself searching for first team football with game time limited at Stamford Bridge.

Previous loan deals at OFI Crete and Blackpool have failed to bring the best out of Feruz but the influence of Stubbs is believed to be a key selling point as well as the promise of minutes on the pitch at the Ladbrokes Championship outfit.
