Ladbrokes SPFL: Falkirk look to clinch Championship second spot

Published:

The play-off picture will be solved this weekend in all three divisions, and there’s plenty up for grabs for a whole host of teams.

Hibernian’s midweek hammering of Dumbarton keeps alive their hopes of stealing second spot from Falkirk in the Championship.

In Ladbrokes League 1, there are crucial battles throughout the table. League 2 is also fascinatingly poised with all four promotion play-off spots up for grabs.

We present your preview of a crucial final day of fixtures across Scotland.

Ladbrokes Championship

Falkirk host Morton, with the home side knowing that a win by any margin will almost certainly enable Peter Houston’s men to avoid the first play-off round.

The Bairns are 1/2 to win, having taken 10 points from their last four home meetings with Morton.

Rangers head to St Mirren as 2/5 favourites, but with the ‘Gers having taken just one point from their last three games, the best value seems to be with a Buddies triumph at 5/1.

Alloa are enjoying a late-season flourish, with five points from their last three games, and the Wasps are 21/10 to defeat Dumbarton. Celtic loanee Michael Duffy is in red-hot form for the bottom club, and he could prove popular at 13/2 to score first here.

Livingston and Raith Rovers are heading to the play-offs at either end of the table. Livi are 29/20 to grab a morale-boosting win here, with the Kirkcaldy club the same odds.

Hibernian are hot favourites to beat Queen of the South at 9/20, with Alan Stubbs’ men back to their best form at Easter Road.

Ladbrokes League 1

Champions Dunfermline host Peterhead at East End Park, but it’s the Blue Toon with everything to play for here. Jim McInally’s men need to win to have any chance of reclaiming second spot, and they’re 3/1 shots to inflict a third straight defeat on the Pars.

Ayr United currently hold pole position in the League 1 play-off push, and they’re 2/3 to secure that coveted spot with a win home win against Airdrieonians.

A victory for Cowdenbeath (11/4) at Stranraer seems to represent the best value at Stair Park. The Blue Brazil won 3-0 here earlier this season, and they’re 50/1 to repeat that scoreline here.

Albion Rovers have an outside chance of the play-offs if they beat Stenhousemuir. The Wee Rovers are 11/5 for victory – a very appealing price considering they’ve taken 16 points from the last six meetings with Stenny.

Brechin City are 15/4 to win at Forfar as they bid to avoid the relegation play-offs.

Ladbrokes League 2

It’s top against bottom at Bayview, and this looks to be a home banker for Champions East Fife who are 1/3 to continue East Stirling’s poor run.

Play-off hopefuls Annan are 29/20 to keep their promotion hopes alive against Queen’s Park.

In-form Berwick Rangers are 5/4 to return home from Montrose with all three points.

Those who believe Clyde can beat Stirling Albion to book their post-season place can back Barry Ferguson’s men at 7/10.

Elgin City, meanwhile, are 4/7 to prolong Arbroath’s struggles.
