Goodwood-Galway Lucky 15: Blue will get to the point in Sussex

Published:

Another fantastic day of racing is in store this Thursday with the Goodwood Cup and the Galway Hurdle the big highlights.

We’ve delved into both of those contests and more for this latest Lucky 15 and we’re hoping for similar success to Tuesday’s edition.

Gifted Master placed in the Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood while both Creggs Pipes and Beau Satchel won at Galway to ensure a handsome return from our each-way gamble.

Let’s see if we can produce some more magic…

Blue Point, 14:35 Glorious Goodwood

Frankie Dettori won this last year onboard Shalaa and the World’s Best Jockey has a decent chance of following that victory up with Mehmas in this latest renewal.

But with a 3lb penalty to contend with owing to his charge’s recent July Stakes win the task could prove too much and instead we’re plumping for the Godolphin jolly.

Blue Point routed the field by 11L last time out and the market has reacted accordingly.

Sword Fighter, 15:10 Glorious Goodwood

Big Orange is the one to beat while the money coming in for Commissioned suggests we could see something special from Gordon Elliott’s charge.

However, we’ve swerved both of those for Aidan O’Brien’s progressive charge.

The Master of Ballydoyle has won this three times before and his latest challenger looks well-equipped to step up and do the business in this year’s edition.

The Queen’s Vase and Curragh Cup winner has to improve again but we’re not putting it past the talented three-year-old.

Ibergman, 15:30 Galway

Sheila Lavery’s 7f specialist has shown a liking for both course and distance with her win at last year’s Festival a high point in the four-year-old’s career.

A more recent success at Roscommon further highlights this filly’s claims in a fairly weak Listed contest that’s well and truly up for grabs.

Superb Story, 16:45 Galway

Dan Skelton’s lightly-raced entrant was a cracking winner of the County Hurdle at Cheltenham back in the spring and the super impressive five-year-old is more than capable of landing this contest.

Last year’s winner Quick Jack is obviously a threat but he’s 12lb higher this year and that could prove to be an issue.

There are other dangers too but overall our consistent selection has all the attributes to come out on top.
