How the world is calling Gennady Golovkin v Kell Brook

Published:

While the boxing world expected a deal to be struck between Chris Eubank Jr and Gennady Golovkin, the Kazakhstani unified middleweight title holder threw a curve ball this weekend when he announced he’d be fighting Eubank’s compatriot, Kell Brook.

GGG boasts the greatest knockout percentage in middleweight history (91 per cent), while Sheffield-born Brook will be jumping two weight divisions when the pair meet in September.

According to promoter Eddie Hearn, terms were ‘virtually agreed’ between Eubank Jr, who beat Tom Doran back in June after the referee stopped the fight in the fourth round, and GGG – who is unbeaten in 35 bouts.

But in a surprise twist, seemingly out of nowhere, it’s Brook that ended up agreeing terms with Triple G.

Though the trio were involved in a war of words over the weekend, the rest of social media have made their predictions on the upcoming fight.

Unsurprisingly, Kell Brook was pretty excited when the news broke.

His opponent seemed both thankful to Brook and eager to impress when making his followers aware of the news.

Eubank Jr didn’t seem too thrilled.

Meanwhile, former WBC Jr. Middleweight Champion Sergio Mora had some advice for Brook, who goes into this fight with just one defeat in 36 bouts.

Though Amir Khan seemed excited about the fight, Brook wouldn’t have been his first choice to face Triple G.

However, coach Shane McGuigan disagreed with Khan’s opinion…

Unfortunately for Jay, our traders won’t offer a market for Brook ‘gettin snooooozed’ in September…

Strong words from the Hayemaker…

Eubank Jr. still wasn’t finished…
