Stoke, Sunderland or Boro possible new clubs for Dortmund man

The Borussia Dortmund exit door continues to swing this summer, as another of Thomas Tuchel’s squad looks set to leave the Bundesliga runners-up for seemingly brighter lights.
Following in the freshly trodden footsteps of teammates Ilkay Gundogan and Henrikh Mkhitaryan is likely to be Neven Subotic, albeit the Serbian centre-half won’t be heading to Manchester.
Well, technically he may choose Manchester airport as his first point of call having been released from Dortmund’s summer training camp to discuss potential moves, with one of those three teams being Stoke City – just down the M6.
According to the Daily Mail, the German club are willing to do business with any potential buyers for a fee of £6.5m and Stoke are quoted alongside Sunderland and Middlesbrough as very interested parties.
Under Mark Hughes the Potters have become something of a landing spot for high-profile foreign imports so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Subotic sign up.
However, unlike the midlands outfit and Sunderland, the Mail suggest Middlesbrough are the only club of the trio who aren’t concerned about the Serbian’s work permit situation, making Teesside the most likely destination as it stands.
Having not played for Serbia since 2013, Subotic does not meet the criteria needed to be granted one, according to the paper.
Some fresh reports even suggest Arsenal’s hunt for quality reinforcements might see the Gunners launch a bid of their own for the central defender.
The Serb has played 258 times for the German giants, but lost a regular starting place under Tuchel in the campaign just gone and despite former defensive partner Mats Hummels freeing up space by leaving for Bayern Munich this summer, a disgruntled Subotic is intent on severing his ties during the same transfer window.
