Countdown Boosts: Odds enhanced on all things Chelsea

Published:

It’s probably safe to assume we can regard Chelsea’s 10th-place finish last season as an anomaly, rather than a long-term fall from grace. New boss Antonio Conte has led an intense pre-season programme and the Blues are ready to roar back to the sharp end of the Premier League.

Chelsea will have written last season off long ago, and the vibes from an intense pre-season would suggest the four-time Premier League champions are ready to challenge for silverware once more.

N’Golo Kante has been added to bring midfield steel, while Michy Batshuayi can ease the burden on Diego Costa.

And Eden Hazard looks to be returning to his best too, which all bodes for a very strong campaign for the Stamford Bridge brigade.

As part of our Premier League countdown, we’re offering a series of price boosts, and today it’s Chelsea’s turn to get in on the action…

08:00-12:00: Chelsea to finish as the Top London club was EVS, NOW 6/4

This is set to be a battle royale, as Chelsea return to the fight against Arsenal and Tottenham to be crowned London’s best.

West Ham may feature too, but the Blues have finished as the highest capital club in 10 of the last 12 seasons.

12:00-15:00: Any Chelsea player to be the Premier League Top Goalscorer was 8/1, NOW 12/1

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba (twice) have all claimed the Prem’s Golden Boot in a Chelsea shirt.

Michy Batshuayi could be a major contender after 17 goals for Marseille last season, while Eden Hazard looks to have rediscovered his old self. That could yet apply to Diego Costa too, who fired in 20 goals in just 26 appearances in the 2014-15 campaign.

15:00-18:00: Chelsea to score the most Premier League goals was 7/2, NOW 5/1

Surprisingly Chelsea have only been top scorers once, back in 2009-2010, but there’s plenty to suggest they’ll be frequent goal busters this term.

The arrival of Kante should hand the Blues an anchor upon which to launch wave after wave of attack. Batshuayi will offer Costa able support up front, while Pedro should be settled in England by now and Hazard is sure to score more than last season’s paltry four.

18:00-22:00: Chelsea to win the Premier League was 11/2, NOW 13/2

It’s set to be the most competitive Premier League in history, and Chelsea have a couple of aces up their sleeve.

One is the reinvigoration that Conte has seemingly brought with him, and the other is a lack of European football. Chelsea need only look at Leicester to see the domestic advantages which can be enjoyed from playing only once a week while title rivals endure challenges on the continent.
