Poll Reaction: PFA Player of the Year is the key again for Leicester

Last season saw Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez pick up the PFA Player of the Year award, something which most of us would have laughed off as a nonsensical idea this time 12 months ago.
And if that wasn’t enough pressure on the Algerian’s shoulders to take into the upcoming campaign, according to our followers he’s expected to be Ranieri’s main man again this time out.
In one of our closest polls this week, Mahrez finished in first place with 35 per cent of the vote, while 30 per cent of voters think Jamie Vardy will be the key man.

Vardy grabbed himself a staggering 24 goals in the league last year, including a goal in 11 consecutive games, a feat which no other striker in Premier League history has ever achieved.
Brought in this summer to take some of the pressure of Vardy’s shoulders up-front was Ahmed Musa, who arrived from CSKA Moscow for a record fee of £16.5m
And the Nigerian striker was third in today’s poll with 29 per cent of the vote – his brace against Barcelona has clearly made an impression on fans.
Though he epitomised everything we’ve come to associate with Leicester City Football Club last campaign, unfortunately Wes Morgan only received a mere 6 per cent of the vote, as it seems our followers are expecting the Foxes’ attacking players to play a much more important role than their defensive teammates.
25-year-old Mahrez was one of Leicester’s standout players last year, scoring 17 league goals while chipping in with 10 assists, and his goal against Celtic in this pre-season’s International Champions Cup shows that he’s ready to pick up exactly where he left off.
The reigning Premier League champions have done an excellent job in keeping hold of almost all of last season’s star players – with just N’Golo Kante slipping through the net.
Both Mahrez and Jamie Vardy were heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, while Ronald Koeman was keen on Kasper Schmeichel.
