Stoke, Southampton and West Ham’s best club EPL top-scorer bets

Published:

With a new Premier League season kicking off, Ladbrokes.com have laid on club top-scorer markets for all 20 teams, and there’s some unmistakable value afoot.

These betting heats don’t always go to the favourite, with many superstar strikers prohibitively priced, so get stuck in at decent odds.

Southampton – Dusan Tadic @ 16/1

There’s surely some mistake with this whopping price considering Tadic finished within just four goals of the Saints’ 2015/16 Premier League top scorers Graziano Pelle and Sadio Mane, both of whom have left the south coast since.

Shane Long is the only Southampton player remaining to have outscored Tadic in the top flight last term with 10 strikes to the Serbian international’s seven.

At the odds of a badly-handicapped horse, the man who has just signed a new contract at Southampton is an extremely interesting prospect in this market.

Stoke – Bojan Krkic @ 9/2

The former Barcelona striker is a few points behind teammate Marko Arnautovic, 6/4 favourite, in the betting, despite bagging seven goals in 25 Premier League starts last season to the Austria international’s 11 in 33, leaving the pair with similar goals-per-game strike rates.

Add in that the 25-year-old has had a fine pre-season, starting all of Stoke’s four fixtures, scoring once and laying on another, and the bet adds up handsomely.

West Ham – Michail Antonio @ 14/1

A fascinating market considering no Irons man managed to break into double figures in the Premier League last term, with four players registering between seven and nine strikes.

Such statistics vindicate boss Slaven Bilic’s desperation to land a top striker this summer, although why he doesn’t just shove this Londoner up front full time is a mystery.

Antonio was West Ham’s third-highest scorer in the Premier League last term with eight efforts, four of them coming in a six-game spell between February and March.

Having struck 19 times in his previous 54 Championship matches with Nottingham Forest, this 26-year-old appears a little overpriced to keep improving.
