Jeremy Corbyn just 1/66 to win the Labour leadership race

| 19.09.2016

Jeremy Corbyn enters the final few days of the Labour leadership race as the 1/66 favourite to win the party’s leadership contest.

That’s according to the latest odds at least with our political traders reporting one-way traffic in Corbyn’s battle to stay in post.

Since betting first opened on the market, 93 per cent of all wagers have been for the incumbent leader.

Unsurprisingly, that’s left rival Owen Smith completely friendless with punters in any hope of causing an upset at odds of 16/1.

And with the Pontypridd MP trailing so badly, much of the attention in the Labour leadership vote has turned to Corbyn’s probable vote share.

It’s just 2/1 that the Islington MP triumphs by 60-65 per cent while it’s 5/1 for Corbyn to secure victory by a 70 percent or more margin.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Even at the incredibly short odds on offer punters are still backing Corbyn regardless. We cannot give Smith away and it looks like his days in the headlines are numbered.”
