Jose Mourinho is 7/4 favourite to be awarded August’s Manager of the Month award following a sterling start to his reign as Manchester United boss.
After claiming the Community Shield in his United bow, the Special One followed that up with a trio of Premier League victories, leaving United with nine points from nine at the end of August.
Mourinho is followed in the betting by Chelsea’s Antonio Conte and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola at 9/4, who have also got off to perfect starts at their new clubs.
The final contender is Hull City’s interim coach Mike Phelan at 4/1, who has taken the Premier League returnees to six points, including an opening day scalp over Leicester City.

Should either Jose or Pep claim the award, we wonder if they’ll be too concerned about the infamous curse of the Premier League Manager of the Month.
With the Manchester derby the first fixture upon the league’s resumption next weekend, the superstitious may feel like not winning August’s accolade is a blessing in disguise.
United are 6/5 to win next Saturday’s lunch-time kick-off at Old Trafford, with the blue half of Manchester 23/10 to claim the local bragging rights.
