Liverpool boss still sweet on net-slipping Bundesliga duo

Six summer arrivals at Anfield would have increased to eight at least if Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp had got his way, it has emerged.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the German gaffer wanted to add a couple of gifted Bundelisliga youngsters to his Reds roster, but negotiations hit a dead end as their respective clubs were understandably reluctant to sell.
However, the pursuits of 20-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud and 17-year-old Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic are far from over in Klopp’s eyes say the Echo.
It’s reported that Liverpool’s manager will continue to monitor the progress of Dahoud, who is expected to step straight into the shoes vacated by Arsenal new boy Granit Xhaxa in the Gladbach engine room, as well as Pulisic, a player he brought to Dortmund halfway through his final campaign as BVB’s helmsman.
Dahoud shot to the fore in the Bundesliga last season, marking 32 appearances for the Champions League qualifiers with five goals from midfield.
Meanwile, great American soccer hope Pulisic played just 15 games for Dortmund’s academy before Klopp’s successor Thomas Tuchel threw him into first-team action midway through the 2015/16 campaign.
When opening the scoring against Hamburg back in April, the United States export became the youngest foreigner ever to notch a goal in Germany’s top tier.
The jet-heeled wide man then repeated a similar feat for his country barely a month later, becoming the USA’s youngest scorer in the modern era when netting in a friendly with Bolivia.
It’s clear Liverpool will have to fork out some pretty hefty sums to stand any realistic chance of landing either, but having managed to turn a net profit on transfers during the recently-shut window, the club’s coffers should be pretty healthy come January.
The extra revenue from the increased Anfield capacity is sure to help too.
