Voters pick Westfields as their standout side in the Emirates FA Cup

Published:

They were the lowest ranked side heading into the Emirates FA Cup First Round last weekend, and Westfields’ impressive 1-1 draw with Curzon Ashton was the best performance of the lot.

That’s the view from today’s @Ladbrokes Twitter poll, which asked which side product the best showing across the weekend.

We pitched the Midland Premier Division club alongside Macclesfield Town, Brackley Town and Boreham Wood, each of whom also impressed.

But it was Westfields – having already played six fixtures to get this far – who came out on top with 31 per cent of the vote, with their draw ensuring they’ll be in the hat for the Second Round for the first time in their history.

Second place went to Brackley Town for their fine 2-2 draw with Gillingham, just ahead of Boreham Wood’s 2-2 encounter against one of the oldest football clubs in the world, Notts County.

Macclesfield came home in fourth, which seems a little harsh considering they were the only one of this quartet to prove victorious – impressively winning away at Walsall.

The final Emirates FA Cup First Round clash takes place tonight, when Southport host Fleetwood Town.

The National League side are 11/2 for victory in 90 minutes against the League One outfit.
