Airdrieonians young gun is Ladbrokes League 1 Player of the Month

Rohan Ferguson has won the Ladbrokes League 1 Player of the Month award for November after a series of fine displays.

The 19-year-old Airdrieonians goalkeeper was pivotal as his side won all three of their league games in the month, conceding just two goals.

It’s a double win for the Diamonds, with Mark Wilson scooping the Manager of the Month award too after a scintillating start to life in the dugout.

And the former Celtic and Dundee United defender has heaped praise on his goalie after lifting the award.

Wilson believes Ferguson – who has attracted interest from Premiership clubs – has what it takes to play at the highest level.

In an exclusive Ladbrokes News interview, Wilson said: “He’s one of these new keepers that has this new way of playing. He’s very good with his feet and he’s probably a better passer of a ball than I ever was!

“When I played, goalkeepers were all about catching crosses and shot stopping – and Rohan’s very good at that – but his main strength is you can pass him the ball and he can actually take two or three touches and find a pass.

“I think that’s valuable for a young goalkeeper in this day and age and I’ve no doubt this boy’s going to go far in the game.”

With his manager’s high praise fresh in the mind, Ferguson will be hoping to carry on his good form when Airdrieonians travel to face table-topping Livingston on Saturday.
