Lincoln City v Ipswich: Back Imps to continue their cup heroics

Published:

Lincoln City were just five minutes away from a memorable Emirates FA Cup Third Round win at Ipswich Town, and there’s every chance they can finish the job in their replay at Sincil Bank.

The Imps boast a hugely impressive home record, having chalked up seven wins in the last eight on their own patch. That run has included a victory over Football League opposition, in the form of Oldham Athletic, who were brushed aside in the Second Round of the cup.

In stark contrast, Ipswich have been pretty dismal on the road for some time, registering just four wins in their last 18 away games. But it’s their FA Cup record which will prove an even bigger point of concern for fans of the Suffolk outfit.

The Tractor Boys haven’t won an FA Cup tie since January 2010, having now been knocked out by seven opponents on the trot. As for Lincoln, they’ve enjoyed five wins and two draws in their last seven home ties in this competition.

One man who could play a major role in continuing that sequence is Imps forward Theo Robinson, who has netted five times in his last outings – including a double in the reverse fixture.

That means he looks generously priced at 23/10 to find the net anytime here, while the 16/1 for him to score twice or more could also prove too good to turn down.

For Ipswich’s part, they boast a forward in fine form, in the shape of Leicester City loanee Tom Lawrence.

The 23-year-old has netted five times in his last three games, so the 7/4 for him to get among the goals here should prove popular.

One thing which does look certain is that both teams will register on the scoreboard. Lincoln have netted in each of their last seven outings, while Ipswich have scored in six during the same period. And there’s 4/6 on offer for Both Teams to Score here.

In the match betting, Lincoln offer the best value at 12/5, with the draw available at the same price, and 11/10 for an Ipswich win.
