Man United and Arsenal among clubs queuing up to sign Torino ace

Published:

He’s one of the hottest properties in Europe right now, and it’s no surprise to see the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid on the hunt for Torino striker, Andrea Belotti.

But if anyone is to add the 23-year-old to their ranks this summer, the latest odds are suggesting it’ll be a toss-up between Manchester United and Arsenal for his signature.

Our traders make Jose Mourinho a 5/1 shot to add the Italy international to his ranks when the season draws to a close, while the north London outfit are just behind in the running at 6s.

But it’s thought they’d have to spend big to secure a deal.

Apparently, the Serie A outfit consider their striker to be worth a staggering £85m, and it’s unlikely they’ll settle for much less than that fee given the interest in Belotti.

And while many of the aforementioned clubs would be able to cough up that kind of sum, it’s a huge amount for a player who is yet to prove himself over a long period of time.

There’s no doubting Belotti’s talent – he’s already netted 15 goals for the Turin outfit this season. But that figure is better than he’s managed in any of his previous four full campaigns at senior level, so whoever signs him at that price would be taking a huge risk, and would be investing in potential over proven quality.

That leaves Real Madrid with a great chance of securing a deal for the former Palermo man at 10/1, as their transfer embargo will be lifted in the summer and they’ll be looking to make a huge statement to celebrate.

Of course, were Madrid to go ahead with a deal, it would almost certainly spell the end of either Karim Benzema or Alvaro Morata’s time at the Bernabeu.

That’ll be music to the ears of a whole host of Premier League clubs, with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea in particular being linked with a move for both strikers in recent transfer windows.

But in the case of Belotti, it’s clear Torino would be willing to sell if the price was right.

The question is, who’ll show their hand first?
