Saturday’s Racing Tips: Double Shuffle set to strike at Kempton

Published:
Kempton - BetBright Chase odds

This Saturday’s ITV Racing card features plenty of big betting heats to get stuck into from Kempton, Newcastle and Lingfield.

Both codes are well-represented with the BetBright Chase and Eider Chase the Jumps highlights.

There will also be some late Cheltenham clues on offer with Nicky Henderson’s hyped-up Charli Parcs just one of the novices aiming to cement their Festival claims.

Meanwhile, the Winter Derby from Surrey is a timely reminder that the Flat season is just around the corner.

So, with seven races to enjoy, here’s our take on proceedings…

NAP – Mutakayyef – 15:15 Lingfield

The first Group contest of the year takes place this Saturday with Mutakayyef the standout pick on both form and ratings.

William Haggas’ charge was a Group 2 winner on turf last season and also finished third in the Juddmonte International behind Postponed as well as third in the Woodbine Mile.

If replicating those performances then none of these rivals are likely to stand a chance although last year’s winner Grendisar and Quebec Stakes winner Battalion are capable of making it a close run thing.

NB – Double Shuffle – 15:35 Kempton

Tom George’s in-form yard have a worthy BetBright Chase favourite in Double Shuffle and it seems you’re in agreement given the flood of money we’ve witnessed this week.

With a course and distance victory back in December still fresh in the memory and preferable ground expected, it’s easy to see the appeal this selection makes.

Colin Tizzard’s returning hero Theatre Guide has put in some creditable performances this season while Three Musketeers is another attracting interest.

However, we’re sweet on our pick and wouldn’t advise anything else.

Lively Longshot – Russe Blanc – 14:45 Newcastle

It’ll take a hardy stayer to win this year’s Eider Chase given the expected conditions and the four mile marathon slog that awaits.

However, in Kerry Lee’s Russe Blanc, we think we’ve found the answer.

A runner-up effort at Carlisle last time out hints at an upturn in form for this 2016 Classic Chase winner.

We know Lee’s 10-year-old can tackle the heavy ground and if on top form he’ll be a major player up in the north east.

ITV Racing Tips:

13:50 Kempton – Charli Parcs

14:05 Lingfield – Pretend

14:25 Kempton – Frodon

14:45 Newcastle – Russe Blanc

15:00 Kempton – Elgin

15:15 Lingfield – Mutakayyef

15:35 Kempton – Double Shuffle
