Sergio who? Man City have a new hero in the form of Gabriel Jesus

Nobody really knew what to expect when Gabriel Jesus arrived at Manchester City. But 188 minutes and three goals later, it’s looking pretty clear that Pep Guardiola has unearthed a gem.
It looked as though the Citizens were about to drop even more points in their desperate hunt for a top four spot after Gylfi Sigurdsson equalised at the Etihad for Swansea City this afternoon.
But City’s new boy wasn’t about to let the Iceland international steal the limelight.
A delivery from David Silva was met by Jesus’ head and although Lukas Fabianski managed to get hands to the header, he pushed the ball back in the direction of the striker, who was gifted a tap in in the 93rd minute.
The 19-year-old has been in exceptional form for the Manchester outfit since arriving earlier last month. And lest we forget, he had a goal disallowed against Tottenham Hotspur which would’ve been the winner on that day too.
So are we looking at a future Golden Boot winner?
Absolutely.
It’s frightening to think how many goals the youngster would have to his name if he’d been at City from the opening day of the season – but that’s something we’ll find out next year.
A natural poacher, his strikes so far have been Sergio Aguero-esque, and it looks as the Pep favours the Brazilian to his South American teammate.
On the bench for the second game in a row, Aguero was presented with a golden opportunity to make it 3-1 in the dying seconds of the game. In fact, his chance was eerily similar to Jesus’.
The outcomes couldn’t have been any different though.
Fans are still on Aguero’s side, with the Argentine receiving a great reception after entering the field.
But the attention is very much on his partner up-front right now, and the latest odds suggest an Etihad exit may well be on the cards in the summer.
It’s just 6/4 for the 28-year-old to leave City before the start of next season, and that’s the shortest price we’ve seen so far this season.
Real Madrid are favourites to snap him up when their transfer embargo gets lifted at the end of the season, although there’ll be a whole host of clubs throwing their names in the mix.
But if Jesus can maintain this kind of form, Aguero will hardly be missed.
