White and Fu feature in our Ladbrokes World Grand Prix top bets

We’re preparing ourselves for another scintillating night of snooker action at the Ladbrokes World Grand Prix, as the Second Round begins.
Up first will be Ali Carter and Mark King, who both scraped through their opening matches in seven-set thrillers.
And we’re expecting a tense affair this evening…
Ali Carter v Mark King
Carter heads into this one as the 8/15 favourite, although the number three seed will have it all to do if he’s to fight off King.
The Head to Heads don’t help us here, either. Of their last six clashes, both players have won three, and of their last 26 frames against each other, they’ve both won 13.
Unfortunately for us the format doesn’t allow for draws. So where do we put our money?
It’s a close one to call, and for that reason we’re steering clear of picking a winner.
Instead, we’d be interested in this one going all the way. With a potential seven frames to play here, we reckon this is a steal…
Top Bet – Over 5.5 frames @ 4/7
Anthony McGill v Marco Fu
McGill breezed through his opening round match against David Gilbert, winning 4-1. Meanwhile, Fu ran out the 4-2 winner against Jamie Jones.
This pair are separated by 11 places in the rankings table right now, but the odds are suggesting this’ll be a close game.
Of course, world number eight, Fu, is favourite with our traders at 4/9, while McGill’s convincing performance in the First Round sees him priced at 7/4 to make it to the quarter-finals for the first time.
But we’re backing Fu here, and in truth, we reckon he could have this one wrapped up with some breathing space.
He’s defeated McGill in each of their three previous meetings, winning each game by more than a frame.
Top Bet – Marco Fu -1.5 @ 5/6
Michael White v Ryan Day
Without question, this is our game of the day.
This pair caused arguably the biggest shocks of the First Round, defeating John Higgins and Stuart Bingham respectively.
And although Ryan Day head’s into this one as the slight favourite (4/5), our money will be going on his opponent – certainly at Evens.
White has already beaten Day once this year, and in fact he’s ran out victorious in each of their last three meetings.
He’s actually just ahead of his opponent in the rankings table, too.
Should he defeat Day, White would find himself in his ninth ranking quarter-final of his professional career. Not bad for a 25-year-old.
