Man City v Huddersfield: Terriers well priced to pull off a shock

Published:

Manchester City may understandably be favourites for their Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round Replay against Huddersfield Town, but the Terriers’ recent form means they’re appealingly priced to continue this season’s trend of cupsets.

The West Yorkshire outfit are in scintillating form right now, having won seven and drawn two of their last nine games, including an impressive 3-1 triumph over current Championship table-toppers Brighton & Hove Albion.

City have been in fine fettle themselves of late too, but they have had sticky patches during this campaign, and also have a habit of losing to lower-league opposition in this tournament.

Back in 2015, the Citizens were ousted 2-0 by then-Championship Middlesbrough at the Etihad, while they also exited the competition at home to second-tier Wigan Athletic the season in the previous campaign.

That’s likely to boost the confidence of David Wagner’s men, who’ve shown this season that they possess goalscoring threats across the park.

Strikers Elias Kachunga and Nahki Wells have both netted regularly this term, but the visitors can also count on the likes of towering defender Michael Hefele, who has scored four times in his last seven outings, and looks well priced to net anytime here at 14/1.

And with both sides in impressive goalscoring form at present, the 11/10 for Both Teams to Score looks like an excellent bet.

Meanwhile, if the Terriers are to sneak it, we reckon 2-1 is the most likely score at 50/1, with the visitors having already won by that scoreline on 10 occasions this season.

In the match betting, Huddersfield are a whopping 20/1 to win in 90 minutes, with Man City 2/15 favourites and 8/1 for the draw.

However, for those looking to get behind the Championship side, the safety net of Double Chance: Huddersfield and Draw at 11/2 could prove popular.
