Man United favourites to snap up star pair from Monaco

Jose Mourinho could be set to splash the cash in Monaco this summer, with Manchester United favourites to sign two of Les Monegasques’ star men – Tiemoue Bakayoko and Kylian Mbappe.

The pair shone in Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over Manchester City at Stade Louis II, with both men getting on the scoresheet as the principality club reached the last eight of the Champions League.

But it’s their local rivals United who are favourites for the highly-rated duo, with Bakayoko 11/8 to head to Old Trafford, with Mbappe a 5/2 shot to join the 20-time English champions.

However, the North-West giants will face a battle for both men. Real Madrid are 4/1 shots to pip them to the former, while it’s the Citizens who are 7/2 to sign teenager Mbappe, who left them reeling with his early strike in midweek.

And it’s no surprise that they’re in such hot demand. The 18-year-old forward has netted 17 goals and chalked up 10 assists so far this campaign is also fancied by Los Blancos (7/2), with Barcelona fourth-favourites at 6/1.

Meanwhile, rock-solid holding midfielder Bakayoko is also on the radar of Barca (9/2), Man City (6/1) and Chelsea (8/1).

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “United could be set to up the stakes in the battle for Premier League supremacy this summer, with Jose closing in on two of Europe’s top talents.”

“But it could be Monte Carlo or bust, with a host of other continental giants in the frame.”
