Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal or Man City? We name the finalists

| 18.04.2017

Chelsea’s defeat to Manchester United last weekend, coupled with Tottenham Hotspur’s convincing win against Bournemouth, means the race for the Premier League title is far from over.

But our attention this week turns to the Emirates FA Cup, where Wembley will play host to the semi-finals as Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City battle it out for a place in the showpiece event.

And we think we already know the winners of each battle, based on injuries, form and head-to-heads.

So if you fancy a 2/1 special to see you through the weekend ahead, then keep on reading…

Name the finalists – Tottenham & Man City @ 2/1

Both are huge fixtures, with the top two sides in the division facing each other on Saturday, before City and Arsenal meet on Sunday afternoon.

But it’s likely Chelsea will be without key man Thibaut Courtois, and that makes Spurs favourites in our eyes.

Why? Because Asmir Begovic is simply not a good enough replacement for the Belgian shotstopper.

Of the 18 top-flight games in which he’s featured for the Blues in the last two seasons, they’ve won just four games.

Chelsea also head into this game having lost two of their last four games, and while Spurs may be breathing down their necks in the race for the Premier League title, the Blues still have the upper hand and remain 1/8 shots to finish the season in first-place.

That means Mauricio Pochettino’s men will see the Emirates FA Cup as a perfect opportunity to get one over on their London rivals.

As for Arsenal – where do we start?

Their last 13 games have been disappointing to say the least. They’ve won just five of those outings – two being against National League opposition, two being against relegation-threatened sides and the other coming against a West Ham side who’d lost four on the bounce prior to their trip to the Emirates.

Yes, they may head into the clash knowing a win could set up a North London Derby in the final – but we just can’t see how they get the better of Pep Guardiola’s side.

And then there’s the new formation.

Arsene Wenger fielded a back three for the first time since 1996 last night. And while they got the all-important victory, but they were far from stable at the back.

And, quite simply, it’s frightening to think just how much damage the likes of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero could do to a back three consisting of Gabriel, Rob Holding and an out-of-form Laurent Koscielny.

With that in mind, we think the 2/1 on a Tottenham/Man City final represents cracking value. As for picking a winner? We’ll leave that down to you!
