The 3 Anderlecht stars who could spell trouble for Man United

| 12.04.2017

Manchester United may be 5/4 favourites to lift the Europa League trophy, but they’re likely to face a mighty tough test against Belgian giants Anderlecht in their Quarter-Final tie.

So, who are the aces among the Anderlecht pack who could spell trouble for Jose Mourinho’s men?

Kara (CB)

One of the stars of 2017’s Africa Cup of Nations, towering central defender Kara helped Senegal to a pair of clean sheets, as well as showcasing his attacking threat with a goal in the crucial clash with Tunisia.

And he’s been every bit as impressive for Anderlecht since joining from Gent in 2015. Hugely powerful, dominant in the air and composed on the ball, the 27-year-old has been integral in Paars-wit’s recent streak of five clean sheets in their last 10 games.

Having also directly contributed to seven games this season, he’s a player United need to keep an eye on in attacking areas – especially set-pieces.

Youri Tielemans (CM)

The 19-year-old is one of Europe’s hottest properties right now, with the Red Devils one of a number of clubs he’s been linked with this summer – though Monaco are believed to be closing in on his signature.

And it’s no wonder he’s sparked so much interest. The Belgian international has netted 18 times from central midfield this season, as well as producing 11 assists.

Mature beyond his years, the Sint-Pieters-Leeuw native has also been given the captain’s armband seven times this season – a sequence of games in which Anderlecht lost just once.

Lukasz Teodorczyk (CF)

Few players in European football can boast a better scoring ratio than Teodorczyk this season. The Pole has netted 28 times in 43 games this term, including five in the Europa League.

An ice-cool finisher in the mould of Thomas Muller or Filippo Inzaghi, the former Dynamo Kiev man comes to life in the 18-yard box. But he also has an eye for the spectacular, as proved by his ingenious solo goal in August’s 2-2 draw with Gent.

Man United…get ready to have your hands full.
