Everton clear favourites to sign Sunderland’s star stopper Pickford

There hasn’t been much to celebrate for Sunderland fans this season, and unfortunately for them, their best player looks to be on his way out.

Jordan Pickford has managed to produced a number of starring performances this season, and the 23-year-old has seen his stock rise and rise.

And this weekend’s press claim Everton have made the first move for the highly-rated stopper.

The Sunday Mirror claim the Toffees are willing to offer £10m for Pickford, who still has three years to run on his contract.

Valued at just over £4m by transfermarkt.co.uk, the fee quoted by the paper seems to be pretty much on the market.

But should another team or two declare their interest, the Black Cats could yet pocket up to £15m.

Unfortunately for Wearside board, the odds suggest Everton are the clear front-runners.

Our traders make the Merseysiders 1/3 odds-on to snap up Pickford, with Arsenal and Manchester City next up.

But that duo are well out of contention at 7/1.

Among the outsiders are Liverpool at 10/1, and Manchester United at 16s.

Pickford is a product of the Sunderland youth academy, making his first-team debut last season after a number of loan spells at clubs including Preston North End, Bradford City and Carlisle.

The Washington-born goalie has also represented England youth teams at every level from U16 to U21.
