Diego SImeone’s Atletico Madrid side have it all to do if they’re to win this year’s Champions League.

For starters, they’ll have to get the better of city rivals Real Madrid over two legs – something we just can’t see happening.

WHy?

In short, Los Blancos are simply too strong right now, and they have a trophy to defend. But we’re focusing on the first leg in particular, where Zinedine Zidane’s men are 4/5 favourites to come out on top.

That leaves Atleti as 19/5 outsiders, while the draw is priced up at 13/5. We’re leaning towards the odds-on shot here though, especially given that Real have lost just two games in 14 months at the Bernabeu.

Tuesday’s visitors managed to pick up a point here earlier on in the season when the pair met domestically, but they lost 3-0 in the reverse fixture back in November.

We’re offering 14/1 for a repeat of that scoreline, although that’s just one of two times Atletico have lost by that scoreline or margin in three years.

Cristiano ROnaldo opened the scoring for the hosts at the weekend as they scraped past Valencia 2-1. It’s no surprise to see the Portugal international priced at 16/5 to net first here.

After all, he did score a hat-trick in this fixture in November.

As for the travellers, Antoine Griezmann added to his tally in the 1-1 draw with Real last month, and 2/1 says he nets again in the Spanish capital.

Atletico will know how important an away goal could prove to be, and with that in mind there could be some value in the 3/1 on offer for the home side to win and both teams finding the net.

Granted, it’s not a bet which we’ve paid out on all that often where SImeone’s men are concerned, but amazingly Real have conceded in 15 of their last 16 games.

We reckon this tie could go right down to the wire – but only over two legs.

As for the first outing, we’re behind the home team, especially at 4/5.
