The Sky Sports News ticker lit up this afternoon with a rare piece of good news for Arsenal fans – they’ve signed a player.

Sead Kolasinac is set to join the club on July 1 on a five-year-deal from Schalke.

So, who is this new Gunner?

Kolasinac is a 23-year-old Bosnian, who has quickly become a highly-sought after left-back.

The defender has spent his entire career with Schalke, making his first-team debut in 2012 when still a teenager.

And since then he has gone on to make over 115 appearances for the Gelsenkirchen outfit,  including more than 20 games in European competitions.

The Karlsruhe-born defender has enjoyed his finest season yet this term however, and it’s his performances this year which have arguably persuaded Arsenal to make a move.

Though Schalke are mired in the Bundesliga’s mid-table, Kolasinac has been on song, featuring 25 times.

And his roaming runs down the left-flank have been productive too, notching three goals and five assists.

It won’t have gone unnoticed by Arsene Wenger either, that Schalke have failed to win all eight games Kolasinac has missed this term.

And even better for the Gunners is that the full-back will be arriving for nothing, having run down his contract in Germany.

The move will put Kieran Gibbs’ future into question once more, with the Englishman now expected to seek pastures new this summer.
