Newcastle lead Brighton in race to snap up Arsenal defender

Published:

Aside from a brief loan spell at Norwich City, defender Kieran Gibbs has spent his entire career to date with Arsenal. But his 10-year stint in the Gunners’ side could be set to end this summer – with Newcastle United frontrunners for his signature.

The Magpies are 3/1 to snap up the 27-year-old, who has fallen out of favour at the Emirates, starting just eight Premier League games last term, compared to 18 during the 2014-15 season.

However, Newcastle aren’t the only side keen to give the Lambeth-born defender more game-time, with fellow newly-promoted side Brighton & Hove Albion 9/2 to secure Gibbs’ signature.

And with the left-back having over 130 Premier League games under his belt, he could add vital experience to the Seagulls ranks.

Watford and West Bromwich Albion are next up at 5/1 apiece, and the Baggies’ ageing backline could certainly do with a player who possesses Gibbs’ energy.

Meanwhile, Stoke City 7/1 to add the left-back to their ranks, and they’re followed by 14/1 shots Swansea City, with West Ham United closing out the betting at 16s.
