Premier League Countdown: How will Brighton fare in top-flight?

The new Premier League season is inching ever nearer, so it’s time to start thinking about how the upcoming campaign will shake out.
In the build-up to the new season we’re profiling each of the 20 top-flight clubs, from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to Premier League new boys Huddersfield Town.
And in this particular case we’re talking all things Brighton & Hove Albion…
The Seagulls clinched promotion to the top flight with three games to spare last season and will now compete in the top division of English football for the first time since 1983.
The summer has not proved to be plain sailing for manager Chris Hughton, though, with experienced goalkeeper David Stockdale deciding to reject a new contract at the AMEX Stadium and move to Birmingham City.
Goals could also be an issue for the Sussex outfit with last season’s top scorer Glenn Murray and Tomer Hemed still unproven at Premier League level.
A lack of reinforcements in attacking areas will also place an onus on last season’s Championship Player of the Year, Anthony Knockaert, to provide a creative spark.

We say: Brighton are an unknown quantity at this level after so long away from the top-flight, but anything other than a relegation dogfight would be a surprise. The Seagulls lack creativity, have lost their first choice goalkeeper and will find it difficult against rejuvenated Premier League frontlines. Home form will be key to their survival.
