Hajduk Split v Everton: Toffees won’t come unstuck in Croatia

Published:

Everton head to Croatia on Thursday evening for the second leg of their Europa League play-off with Hajduk Split.

The Toffees are 2-0 up from the first leg and will look to seal a place in the draw for the group stages in Monaco on Friday.

Ronald Koeman is expected to rest a handful of regulars but won’t be taking Juan Carillo’s side lightly.

After spending a glut of money on his team over the summer, the Dutchman can afford to rotate his squad without diluting the quality too much.

With a huge game against Chelsea on Sunday, the likes of Wayne Rooney and Idrissa Gueye may well be rested. James McCarthy is back from injury and could make his first start of the season.

At 6/5 in the match betting, the Merseyside club look like decent value to get a win. Hadjuk are 9/4 and the draw, 21/10.

Having made an unbeaten start to the season domestically and in Europe, the Blues really should have too much for their Croatian counterparts here.

With Everton so defensively sound – conceding just one goal so far this season – the 10/3 on them to Win and Under 2.5 Goals market looks lovely.

Gylfi Sigurdsson made his debut in the 1-1 draw at Manchester City and could well start here. The Icelandic midfielder is 13/2 to open the scoring and that’s a bet we like a lot.

The shorter 12/5 on him to score Anytime might be a little more tempting, though.
