Leicester City could be about to improve their wide options, if reports are to be believed.

The Foxes are said to be in for Crystal Palace midfielder Andros Townsend.

Townsend has featured four times for the South Londoners already this season but could be open to a move.

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare now appears ready to test Palace’s resolve and has lodged a £27m bid for the England international.

And our traders have reacted by making it a 2/1 shot that the 26-year-old heads to the King Power Stadium.

With Palace in the hunt for new defenders following a dismal start to the season the Selhurst Park club could be tempted to take the money.

Manager Frank de Boer requires funds to reinvest in the defence and Palace already have a good depth of attacking players.

Losing the 5ft 11in ace would be a blow for the Eagles but one they are prepared to live with.

There’s no shortage of takers for Townsend either as former club Newcastle United also appear interested.

In a surprise move, the Magpies are 8/1 to be reunited with their former star.

Toon manager Rafael Benitez is known to be an admirer of the 13-cap international, although a hefty price tag could put the Spaniard off.

The Londoner initially signed for Newcastle in 2016 for £12m, but a troubled time on Tyneside saw Townsend appear just 17 times in the Black and White before being sold to Palace just six months later.
