A Manchester United player for eight seasons and 198 games, Jonny Evans could be set for a return to the North-West this summer. But it’s fierce rivals Manchester City who are the ones closing in on his signature.

Pep Guardiola has already had an £18m bid rejected for the player this week, but reports suggest the Citizens boss is far from done in his pursuit of the Northern Irishman. In fact, Evans is just even-money to move to the Etihad this summer.

The Belfast native played 31 times in the Premier League for West Bromwich Albion last term, helping the Baggies to an impressive top-half finish.

However, it’s the former Red Devils’ man’s Old Trafford experience which could prove most valuable if City are to get their hands on him.

A three-time league winner, he’s also played in a Champions League semi-final – pedigree which could prove influential at an ambitious club who fell short in the trophy hunt last season.

The good news for West Brom fans is that if he doesn’t head back to Manchester, he won’t be going anywhere.

There’s 8/11 about the player remaining at WBA beyond this transfer window, with our trading team deeming The Hawthorns and the Etihad as the only places he’ll be come the end of the window.

Next up for Man City is the visit of Everton on Monday, with the hosts 3/10 for victory.
