ITV Racing Tips: Coneygree and Cue Card clash at Wetherby

There’s a cracking day of racing on Saturday with the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby taking centre-stage.
Cue Card and Coneygree go head-to-head in what looks one of the most competitive renewals in years.
There’s also the West Yorkshire Hurdle and Sodexo Gold Cup at Ascot to look forward to.
Who wins? Well, we’ll find out. But the Ladbrokes News Team will do our best to guide the way.
Attention will be centred upon the return of Lil Rockerfeller in this renewal of the West Yorkshire Hurdle.
However, it’s further down the betting that really piques our interest. Wholestone had a marvellous season last year.
Nigel Twiston-Davies’ six-year-old won two Grade Ones and came an excellent third in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham.
Major faults can be found in his main competition here. Lil Rockerfeller is a super horse but hasn’t run in a while and doesn’t have a lot of experience. Ptit Zig is inconsistent.
The trip back up to 3m will suit Wholestone. This is likely to be a tight race so backing him at larger odds is just too enticing.
It feels a little brave to back Coneygree at short odds in such a competitive renewal but we love this horse so much.
The former Cheltenham Gold Cup winner has had a rough time of it the last 18 months or so. But connections are now confident his troubles are behind him.
Mark Bradstock’s 10-year-old goes against his old foe in Cue Card in this Grade Two renewal. Can Cue Card still cut the mustard at 11-years-old?
Blaklion, Bristol De Mai and Definitely Red will all be in the mix, too. However, it’s just too hard not to reminisce about how good Bradstock’s star can be.
It’ll be a fantastic spectacle, but we’re tipping Coneygree to do the business.
We’re finishing up at Ascot where there’s an 18-strong field for the Sodexo Gold Cup.
There’s a number of horses in with a shout here but we really like the look of Dark Flame.
The eight-year-old performed brilliantly at Sandown on his seasonal debut 12 months ago.
And going by his course record of 1-2-3, it’s clear he likes the course and a trip up to 3m will likely suit him.
Connections have been looking at this one since the summer and will use it in preparation for the World Hurdle in March.
He’s certainly worth a tenner of anyone’s money.
