ITV Racing Tips: Foxtail Hill can land the Gold Cup at Cheltenham

The highlight of a packed day’s racing on ITV comes from Cheltenham, where a field of 18 are set to battle it out for the Gold Cup.

Harry Fry’s mount Kylemore Lough will be among the favourites for the feature race of the day, although we’re taken to oppose the jolly with the impressive Foxtail Hill.

But more on that later.

There are a further three races to enjoy from the Gloucestershire course, plus a pair of intriguing contests to get stuck into on the all-weather from Lingfield.

Taking you through all that and more, we’re back with Saturday’s ITV Racing Tips

NAP – Victory Bond – 14:45, Lingfield

With open fields across the board at Cheltenham, we’re turning to Lingfield for our NAP of the day.

It’s Victory Bond that gets the nod to overcome Boynton for the second time on the all-weather.

William Haggas’ mount defeated his foe by ½ a length at Chelmsford last time out and is taken to build on that good form at Lingfield.

After failing to impress during a career on the turf, we think the all-weather could be where Victory Bond comes into his own this Winter.

NB – Minella Rocco – 13:50, Cheltenham

We’re off to Cheltenham next where Minella Rocco is handily priced for success at 13:50.

His reappearance at Punchestown in October wasn’t great, but this is a horse with a touch of class.

Remember, he was second only to Sizing John in the Gold Cup back in March.

Up against runners who are by and large unexposed over this trip, we think that Minella Rocco has what it takes to break her black-type duck.

Lively Longshot – Foxtail Hill – 14:25, Cheltenham

In the day’s feature race, it’s Foxtail Hill that gets our backing on each-way terms in the Gold Cup.

Why? Well just look at his incredible performance when landing the Randox Health Handicap Chase ahead of Le Prezien last month.

He jumped confidently and was brave until the last to win by a neck.

This is a horse that doesn’t give up. And he loves it at Cheltenham too – winning twice and finishing in the places once at the course in the last year.

In a tight field of runners, Foxtail Hill could well be the answer for Nigel Twiston-Davies.
