Theresa May 5/1 to be axed as Prime Minister in 2017 as Gove looms

Theresa May next Conservative leader odds, Michael Gove odds

Theresa May’s days as the leader of the Conservative Party could be numbered, according to our odds.

As pressure mounts on the embattled Prime Minister, we’ve seen her odds tumble into 5/1 from 8s to be replaced by the end of this year.

And it could be a case of going, going, Gove following a flurry of wagers on environment secretary Michael Gove replacing the under-fire PM.

We make the Scotsman a 20/1 shot to oust May as leader of the Conservatives.

He faces stiff competition from Jacob Rees-Mogg, who remains the favourite at 6/1.

Meanwhile, Boris Johnson and David Davis are both 7/1 chances, with Amber Rudd and Andrea Leadsom available at 10/1.

Of the long-odds contenders, Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson makes significant appeal at 16/1.

The 38-year-old led the party to strong results north of the border in this year’s election and is tipped to take the overall leadership at some point in the future.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “May looks safe for now, despite her strong and stable government doing their best to prove otherwise, but savvy punters are struggling to envisage plain sailing for the PM until year-end.”
