Everton and West Ham tracking Arsenal ace Giroud over January move

Everton are at the front of the queue to sign wantaway Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in January, according to our odds.

The Frenchman wants more game time to guarantee his inclusion in France’s World Cup squad next summer.

At the Gunners, he is behind both Alexandre Lacazatte and Alexis Sanchez in the pecking order.

That has forced Giroud to consider a January move, with the Toffees best priced at 2/1 to sign the 31-year-old forward.

Blues boss Sam Allardyce is believed to want a top-level striker to lead the line at Goodison Park.

And with Everton unlikely to attract fellow targets Paco Alcacer and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Giroud could prove to be a timely acquisition on Merseyside.

However, the Toffees will face competition from West Ham United at 3/1.

The Hammers are short up front following injuries to Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll.

And with David Moyes favouring a more direct style, Giroud would fit in well at the London Stadium.

They’re not the only London club attempting to court the interest of the ex-Montpellier ace, though.

Crystal Palace are also in the running at 5/1.

The Eagles are the Premier League’s second lowest goalscorers and require serious competition up-front to rival the misfiring Christian Benteke.

Whether Giroud would be willing to engage in a relegation scrap – at either West Ham or Palace – remains to be seen.
