There’s action from Newbury, Haydock and Taunton as a titanic 12 months of racing draws to a close this Saturday.

The Grade 1 Challow Novices’ Hurdle is the highlight of a seven-race card on ITV4, providing that the weather holds out across the country.

With the going already heavy at two of the day’s courses, we could be in for an unpredictable afternoon of action.

As always, we’ve got you covered with our ITV Racing Tips

NAP – Kilbricken Storm – 15:00 Newbury

After landing the Bristol Novices’ Hurdle last time out, we think Kilbricken Storm has what it takes to claim a first Grade 1 triumph.

Colin Tizzard’s charge showed a degree of inexperience when beating the fancied Count Meribel in that one but produced a touch of quality to take command in the final furlong.

He’s a progressive type who has shown his class already this season.

And while the ground could be an issue, it’s a factor that is likely to affect the chances of all of the other runners.

The six-year-old is taken to defy a 10lb rise as he bids to pick up another valuable win on the road to Cheltenham.

NB – Maria’s Benefit – 15:15, Taunton

Of the three race meetings scheduled for coverage by ITV on Saturday, Taunton is the one that doesn’t look in any doubt.

That should be good news for Maria’s Benefit who is fancied to complete a four-timer in Listed company for the first time.

Stuart Edmunds’ raider has risen through the classes and can continue her progression around the Somerset course over an ideal trip.

Sunshade provides the main opposition but will have to deal with a significant step up in quality to preserve her unbeaten record.

Lively Longshot – Sir Anthony Browne – 13:50, Newbury

The trends and stats suggest that Sir Anthony Browne could make a real go of it at Newbury.

He’s the only runner to have previously won on heavy ground, while he also triumphed on his last appearance around this course.

Alan King’s long-shot went well fresh last season and could reap the rewards of that again this time around on his seasonal bow.

He may not win the thing, but at a big price, he’s certainly worth a punt each-way.
