Transfer Deadline Day is here! And there’s every chance we’ll see the usual flurry of last-gasp moves and shock switches, as managers across the Premier League dive into their transfer war chests.

With the hours ticking down, we look at the clubs most in need of some Deadline Day buys.

Southampton

While Saints have strengthened up front with the signing of Guido Carrillo from Monaco, their defence definitely needs some work.

The sale of Virgil van Dijk has further depleted a defence which has shipped 16 goals in the last eight league games.

Sat 19th in the Prem, the South Coast club could also do with some added creativity in midfield.

Currrent central midfielders Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Steven Davis have managed a total of one assist in the top-flight between them in 2017-18.

The club have reportedly had a £25m initial bid turned down for Spartak Moscow winger Quincy Promes. Whether or not they’ll boost that figure to secure his services today remains to be seen…

Huddersfield Town

The Terriers haven’t been totally inactive in this window, but their horrific recent form means a savvy buy or two today could be the difference between top-flight survival and relegation.

Boss David Wagner claimed on 18th January that the club had finished their January business after adding a solid centre-back and tricky midfielder.

But he could well have had a rethink following four league defeats on the spin. With Peter Crouch reportedly open to a move away from Stoke City, he could be one option.

So too Andre Schurrle, who appears to favour a Premier League return after a tough period at Borussia Dortmund.

Swansea City

It might seem strange to suggest the Swans are struggling, following recent victories over Liverpool and Arsenal. But an over-reliance on their defenders for key goals shows they need to add quality coming forward.

The South Wales club have been linked with a move for former favourite Andre Ayew, who scored 12 goals from the wing for them in 2015-16.

With the Ghanaian’s brother and former Marseille teammate Jordan Ayew currently at the Liberty Stadium, this move could well go through today – with the Swans reportedly tabling an £18m bid late last night.

Another man who could be worth a look is striker Matej Vydra, who has slammed home 15 goals for Derby County in the Championship this term.
