Charlton v Shrewsbury tips: Expect goals in League One play-off clash

Published:

Charlton Athletic host Shrewsbury Town at The Valley in the first leg of the League One play-off semi-final this evening.

The Addicks are 23/20 to win this first tie, whilst Shrewsbury who were fighting for automatic promotion for much of the season are at 12/5.

The hosts come in to the game off the back of three wins in their last four matches to claim sixth place. Charlton, now managed by former midfielder Lee Bowyer guided his side into the top six picking up 19 points in his ten games in charge.

The Shrews, finished third after an impressive early run of form with only one loss in their first 17 league games.

However Paul Hurst’s men arrive having only picked up one win in their last six.

Both sides boast 2-0 away victories over each other in the league which suggests there will be goals in this one.

Charlton could welcome back forward Tariqe Fosu to the fold after recovering from a hamstring injury. The Shrewsbury squad will also arrive near fully fit with striker Stefan Payne at 11/2 to break the deadlock tonight.

Shrewsbury are 11/4 to win the play-offs outright with Charlton at 5/2.
