Why Liverpool should be wary of Roma in second leg

Liverpool face Roma on Wednesday knowing exactly what they need to do to secure their place in the Champions League final.
The Reds’ 5-2 win in the first leg makes them 1/16 favourites to qualify here. But they’ve still got work to do.
Roma’s incredible comeback in the quarter-final against Barcelona shows that this tie is far from over.
As well as Barca, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have failed to win away at Roma in Europe this season. And with two late goals at Anfield, the Italian side have given themselves an outside chance of pulling off another miracle.
Will Liverpool’s backline hold up?
Roma have to go for it here. They need to win by at least three goals to have any chance of going through. It’s 9/1 that they win with a -2.0 Handicap.
This tie really should already have been wrapped up though. Those two away goals have given the hosts hope.
Liverpool’s defence has been much better since Virgil van Dijk came in. But they didn’t look too convincing when Roma put them under late pressure in the first leg.
There’s not much top-level experience amongst the Liverpool backline. Will they hold their nerve?
Change of approach
Roma also surely won’t be as naive as they were last week. Their high line and lack of pace was asking for trouble against Liverpool’s rapid attack.
They’re likely to go with a back four this time around and have an extra man in midfield.
However, it’s hard for any side to keep the likes of Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino out for 90 minutes. Both Teams to Score is 4/11.
