UK now just 7/4 for 2018 General Election after Boris quits

Boris Johnson’s shock resignation has forced our traders to cut odds on a 2018 General Election for the second time in one day.

Having been a 5/2 shot on Monday morning following David Davis’ departure, it’s now just 7/4 that the UK holds another General Election before the year is out.

That means 2018 is now the most likely year in the betting, ahead of 2019 at 2/1 – with Theresa May 1/2 to resign this year.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It’s all change in the Conservative camp and our traders now make a 2018 General Election more likely than ever as a result.”

Can Theresa survive another major departure? We wait with baited breath.
