Arsenal v Man City tips: It could be a Super Sunday humdinger

Published:

Arsenal open up their Premier League campaign today with the visit of champions Manchester City to the Emirates.

It’s a bright new dawn for the Gunners as Unai Emery replaces Arsene Wenger in the dugout.  And Pep Guardiola’s charges will be looking to join Manchester United and Chelsea in winning back-to-back titles.

Match Odds

City open up as favourites at 19/20. Arsenal are 13/5 underdogs, with the Draw available at 27/10.

Despite the Gunners looking in decent nick going into their new era, City look in imperious form. The FA Community Shield win indicates that Guardiola’s outfit look better than ever.

The Citizens have strolled to a pair of 3-0 wins in their previous two clashes. But this will be a new Gunners side under Emery, and they’ll be up for it.

Both Teams To Score is 1/2. Manchester City and Both Teams To Score is 9/4.

Talking Tactics

This should be an absolute cracker. Emery’s style of play is easy on the eye, and coaching savant Guardiola has turned football into an art form.

Expect a hotly-contested clash with short, incisive, free-flowing passing the order of the day. However, both sides will be without a number of key players.

Raheem Sterling, David Silva, and Kevin De Bruyne are still resting after the World Cup. Ainsley Maitland-Niles will start at left back for the Londoners.

Goalscorer Odds

If the win at Wembley over Chelsea last weekend was anything to go by, Sergio Aguero certainly wasn’t suffering from any post-World Cup blues.

The City striker banged in a brace under the arches and looked sharper than a Stanley knife. The Argentine forward is 21/20 to find the net Anytime, and 7/2 to be First Goalscorer.

Leroy Sane has been in good form in pre-season too. The German ace is 19/10 Anytime. For Arsenal, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has also been in good spirits over the summer.

The Gabon international is 7/5 to notch at Anytime.
