Burnley v Aberdeen tips: Battle of Britain readies for round two

Published:

Aberdeen travel across the border to take on Burnley in the second instalment of their Europa League clash.

The tie is evenly poised as the pair played out a 1-1 when they locked horns at Pittodrie.

Each of the last four European matches between a Scottish and an English side have finished level. A repeat of the 1-1 score-line in the second-leg is 13/2.

Match odds

Aberdeen have lost four of their last six away Europa League ties and in the match betting Burnley are 4/9 to win.

But the Scottish club have reached the third qualifying round in their last four attempts. They’re 7/1 to score a victory and advance again. The draw is 3/1.

Burnley’s injury woes

The injury to Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope dominates the pre-match talk.

Pope dislocated his shoulder in the first-leg with no time-scale as to when he’s likely to return.

The Clarets now face a goalkeeping headache with Anders Lindegaard as their only recognised stopper.

Derek McInnes can welcome Andrew Considine back into the fold. The defender missed last week’s clash through illness.

But the trio of Frank Ross, Greg Tansey and Mark Reynolds all look doubtful.

Goalscorer odds

Sam Vokes scored Burnley’s first European goal in 51 years. The Welshman notched an 80th minute equaliser to take back to Lancashire.

The Welshman is 21/20 to score any time. Chris Wood will likely keep his place. The 26-year-old is a 6/10 bet to notch here.

Gary Mackay-Steven bagged the opening goal of the night for Aberdeen last week. The former Celtic man is 9/2 to score again.

Stevie May could come off the bench to strike the decisive blow for The Dons. He’s 11/1 to be the last goal-scorer.

The winner of this tie will play Istanbul Basaksehir in the next round.

The Turkish club boast the likes of Arda Turan, Emmanuel Adebayor and one-time Southampton-loanee Eljero Elia in their ranks.
