Champions League Play-Off tips: Can PSV join Ajax in the group stage?

Published:

The Champions League is hotting up with just one round to go before we find out the full set of clubs that make up the 32 teams in the group-stages.

There are three more tightly-contested matches tonight and we’ve got your odds and tips ahead of the crunch ties.

RB Salzburg v Red Star Belgrade

Salzburg will be hoping the 0-0 draw they secured away in Belgrade will see them qualify for the group-stages for the first time since the 1994-95 season.

However on the flip side Belgrade may feel they can score in Austria after the not conceding in the first leg.

Salzburg are 1/2 to get the job done. Red Star’s Ben Nabouhane has been in good goalscoring form in qualifying though. He’s 4/1 to bag Anytime.

His side are 7/1 to grab the victory. The draw after 90 minutes is 29/10.

PAOK Salonika v Benfica

Another pair of sides that couldn’t be separated in the first-leg. The Portuguese club led by the lively Pizzi could and probably should have been more than one goal ahead when Amr Warda netted PAOK’s equaliser.

This would be PAOK’s first appearance in the Champions League group stages and they are 21/10 to win the game. But perennial Champions League regulars Benfica will feel they have enough to advance and are 13/10 to do so.

You could expect this to be another tight encounter, a Benfica win and Under 2.5 goals is 19/5.

Pizzi is 6/1 to net first, with Warda 7/1 to grab the first goal in the game.

PSV Eindhoven v BATE Borisov

BATE are a team accustomed to a group-stage appearance and still have the evergreen Alex Hleb chipping in with goals.

As for PSV, they will be looking to announce themselves on the competition after missing out last season.

Under new boss Marc Van Bommel they have a real club-man at the helm, but more importantly have a new talisman.

Hirving Lozano was a break-out star of the World Cup and netted in the 3-2 win over BATE in the away leg.

Eindhoven are 1/3 for victory. BATE are 17/2 to return to Belarus with the all-important win. It’s 7/5 for another goal-fest at Over 3.5 goals.
