Friday’s Transfer Rumour Round-up: Man United want ex-City defender

| 03.08.2018

We’re just over a week away from the start of the Premier League season. And clubs across the land are rushing to bring in new heroes and pocket big sums for their exiting stars.

Here are the big rumours coming hot off the press today…

Red Devils set to swoop for Bayern star

Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for Robert Lewandowski in this window. But now there’s a different Bayern Munich ace reportedly being targeted by the Red Devils – Jerome Boateng.

The 29-year-old has spent seven hugely successful years at the Allianz Arena. But he was in and out of the side last term – playing in just half of their Bundesliga games.

Jose Mourinho is keen to boost the Red Devils’ defensive ranks. And this move could also raise eyebrows across the city, with Boateng having initially joined Bayern from Manchester City.

La Liga giants want Pogba

Paul Pogba hasn’t had the best couple of years at Old Trafford. But the 25-year-old showed what he’s capable of this summer, helping France to World Cup glory.

That’s reportedly drawn interest from both Real Madrid and Barcelona. It’s the latter who currently look to be frontrunners. And some sources are even reporting that the midfield powerhouse has already chosen his squad number at the Nou Camp.

Prem pair want Middlesbrough defender

Boro centre-back Ben Gibson was drawing interest from Premier League sides last summer, but remained at the Riverside Stadium. But with the Teesside club failing to secure promotion back to the top-flight, he could well move this summer.

The 25-year-old played every minute of Boro’s league campaign last term, and was given the captain’s armband for much of the season. No surprise then that both Burnley and Everton are reportedly set for a bidding war for his services.

Zaha ready to force Selhurst exit

Throughout the summer, Wilfried Zaha has seemed on the cusp of a move to Tottenham Hotspur. But now it’s another London club – Chelsea – who could be set to bag his services.

The latest reports suggest the Ivorian is on the cusp of handing in a transfer request at current club Crystal Palace, with the aim of forcing a move to the Blues.
