ITV Racing Tips: Beat The Bank and Suedois feature

Beat the Bank

It’s another cracking Saturday of racing live on ITV with the final day of the Ebor Festival from York.

Can anyone beat Expert Eye in the City Of York Stakes? Plus, there’s also some smashing action from Goodwood, including the Ladbrokes Celebration Mile Stakes.

We’ve got you covered with three feature tips and four others for the seven televised races…

NAP – Beat The Bank – 2.05, Goodwood

The Celebration Mile at Goodwood is where we kick off. Andrew Balding’s Beat The Bank ran a poor race in his last outing here in the Sussex Stakes.

However, it was a high-class field including the likes of Lightning Spear and Expert Eye. It was a slower pace that day, and something a touch quicker will suit Balding’s charge much more.

The four-year-old flyer won the Summer Miles Stakes at Ascot back in July under Oisin Murphy. The Irish jockey has been booked to ride here and that’s another feather in this pick’s cap.

But mostly, he’s simply too classy for this field and if he runs anywhere near his best, he’ll hose up.

NB – Suedois – 3.00, York

Every man and his dog will be all aboard Expert Eye and Frankie Dettori for the City Of York Stakes.

But as a much better price, we love the look of David O’Meara’s Suedois. He was third here last year and has been in good form in recent months.

We’d have him backed for the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood last time out. Unfortunately, he was chinned on the line by Sir Dancealot.

Expert Eye will definitely be the one to beat here but Suedois has been champing at the bit for a while now. And we can feel a win coming.

Lively Longshot – Crowned Eagle – 3.40, York

Willie Mullins’ Stratum is a big favourite for this renewal of the Ebor Handicap. But a jolly hasn’t won this race since 2007.

Instead, we’re looking down the field for a bigger price and we’ve landed on Marco Botti’s Crowned Eagle. Formerly trained by John Gosden, Botti’s charge has been in decent nick for the majority of the season.

The four-year-old won the Roseberry Handicap at Kempton back in March. He was closely beaten at a 1m 4f at York by Hamada and finished second again at Haydock in July.

Connections reckon the step up in trip will suit him and if he gets a nice run at it, he could be a nice each-way bet.
